Joan Chittister speaking at Chautauqua Institution

“Sister Joan, I consider you a national treasure,” is how a woman in the audience prefaced her question following Joan Chittister’s presentation at Chautauqua Institution on Monday, July 30. In addition to a large overflow audience at the Hall of Philosophy, the talk was streamed into a packed Hall of Christ raising the estimated audience to 2,000. A sustained standing ovation followed her presentation that outlined the present perilous moral state of the world, especially the United States, the reasons why we are in this predicament, and the work needed to restore right relationships.
