Weekly Word from Sister Joan

“On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdela came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark." John 20:1

Apr 04, 2021

Jesus in the tomb is one proof we have that darkness is not the enemy. Our greatest enemy is the unwillingness to believe in dawn, in resurrection. Hope is what keeps the soul alive in bad times; hope gives us strength to go on despite the darkness of the moment.

What's New

  • In her latest NCR column, “Thanks, President Trump, I Learned a Lot From You,” Joan Chittister writes, “I had a mother who assiduously insisted that there was something to be learned in everything….  That's where I am now.

  • Joan Chittister’s thoughts on humility in the Rule of Benedict are shared in this letter to the editor from John Brooks that appeared in The Republic, Columbus, Indiana. Click here.
