It is important to note that one of the people highlighted in this Lenten resource is Cesar Chavez, the labor organizer and community leader who was revealed, in March 2026, to also have sexually abused women and girls over the course of decades. Joan Chittister and the Benetvision staff had no way of knowing about Chavez's violence when this document was created, and we are deeply saddened for those whom Chavez harmed. An addendum to the document was sent out to those who had already purchased "Loud, Clear, and Nonviolent" on March 19, 2026.
